Churros with Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar for dusting
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Chocolate Sauce
- 200g dark chocolate, chopped
- 200ml double cream
Preparations
- In a medium saucepan, heat water, sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Heat oil for frying in a deep skillet or deep-fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil using a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip. Fry until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels.
- Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon together and roll the fried churros in this mixture until coated.
- For the chocolate sauce, heat the double cream in a small saucepan until simmering, then pour over the chopped chocolate. Let sit for a minute, then stir until smooth.
- Serve churros warm with chocolate sauce for dipping.
Tips
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the chocolate sauce for a spicy kick.
